I have a MFA from Miami University in Printmaking and drawing. Painting is fairly new to me as is working in color. I did gourd art for years, have won numerous ribbons and sold many, many art gourds. I am fairly old school in that if I work from a photograph, I think I must have taken the picture or know and have permission to use the photo. I prefer to work from life, but as I also love birds. I am fortunate to have a brother-in-law, James Munson, who is an excellent bird photographer! The paintings are from life and photos I've taken in my back yard. I also love to garden, which goes hand in hand with my art.
