Sue Brezine has studied with many a gentle artist: Frederick Franck, Betty Edwards, and Nita Leland.
These three have been her most influential mentors. Other that have touched her life are: Homer Hacker, Gerald Brommer, Arne Westerman, Don Andrews, Judi Betts and many more through the years. Each time Sue has returned to her studio and her walks with a more seeing eye.
Sue's seeing and drawing take in whatever appears: a llama with a hairdo, a boy by a curb in Ireland, a cabbage up close, a pig looking from a barn. Sue's art brings what she sees for you to experience as freshly as she has.
Sue's first watercolor class was with our local professional, Nita Leland, who taught the basics so thoroughly that she had a profound effect on her. Years later, when Nita retired from teaching at Riverbend Art Center, she asked Sue to take over her classes. This was a great honor and led to may years of teaching both watercolor and the right brain method of drawing to adults and children. Sue's seeing/drawing and watercolors have been recognized with awards throughout the Miami Valley. They have also made her
a favored teacher of beginners and experienced artists.
Sue has created a workshop, "Sketching Your Spirit" which has taken her to religious communities, engineers, churches, women's groups, to name a few. She has experienced students being amazed at their artist within. It has been a very popular and rewarding workshop.
Organizations have kept Sue busy: Past president of Western Ohio Watercolor Society, past vice president of Fairborn Art and a member of Dayton Society of Painters and Sculptors. She is presently president of Fairborn Art Association.
Sue is very active with the Village Artisans Co-op located at 100 Corry Street in Yellow Springs.
