IN THE GALLERY
Sue Brezine will be in the gallery in September. We shall be looking forward to seeing her show. The gallery is now booked for the rest of 2012. Start thinking of having a show in 2013. I shall continue to be the Gallery Coordinator. I enjoyed being Vice President for the last two years. I would like to thank Dora Lawson for taking my place and I am certain she will do a very good job. Robert and I are looking forward to taking over the shows when Jane leaves next year. We are hoping that we can do half as well as she has done.

LEn Plein Air is a juried painting exhibition, July 8 through July 29, 2012, presented as a collaboration between B-W Greenway Community Land Trust & Fairborn Art Association. HEBBLE CREEK PERMITS BY EMAIL
For those of you who are doing the FAA En Plein Air event at Hebble Creek Reserve, I found out how to get the permit (and parking pass). Very easy. Email Darla at dwisecup@co.greene.oh.us. Mention the En Plein Air event in the subject line and give her your name and address. She'll mail you the permit application, you sign it, mail it back, she gets a signature from the director and then mails the actual permit and parking pass back to you. As you can see, it takes a bit of time but is an easy process. Good luck and maybe I'll see some of you there! Submitted by Heidi Scheirer McGrew, Natural Earth Craft, www.naturalearthcraft.com

SUSAN WEBB TREGAY, N.W.S., T.W.S.A., W.H.S. WORKSHOP
The Fairborn Art Association is sponsoring a 4-day watermedia workshop for intermediate to advanced artists, instructed by Susan Webb Tregay, entitled, “Master Disaster, Five New Strategies for Outstanding Paintings!” The workshop will be held Monday through Thursday, October 1–4, 2012, in the Fairborn Art Association Gallery located in the rear of the Fairborn Senior Apartment Building, 221 N. Central Ave., Fairborn. Tired of wimpy watercolors? Mystified as to how to take your work to the next level—or beyond? Susan can show you how. In this workshop you will create a “Flip Book” of color and design strategies that will take the mystery out of all of those elements and principles of design combinations. Taking a painting to completion is, by far, the hardest part of art. But unless that painting is finished, it gets tucked away. This workshop is designed to help through the last 20 percent of your painting. Finishing is not magic. It is simply methodical repetition of these five steps. You’ll have no more wimpy watercolors. You will learn how to master disaster. Throughout this workshop artists will be working on two or three unfinished paintings. Ugly, problematic paintings are the best! Then these strategies will be applied to a fresh painting or two. Susan recently won 2nd place in the Miami Watercolor Society’s 2011 Online Exhibition. She also won an award at Watercolor USA, which gave her signature membership in the Watercolor Honor Society. Palette Magazine #38 featured Susan on the cover and in a colorful seven-page article. Cost for this workshop is $180 F.A.A. member, $195 non-member. Limit 22 students. There are only 2 places left in this workshop. To register for this workshop, please send a non-refundable check for $40 made payable to Fairborn Art Association, to Jane Trame, 8881 Haddix Rd., Fairborn, Ohio 45324. For further information contact Jane at 937-902-8875, 937-878-1009 or janefvt@yahoo.com.
