I always enjoyed drawing, but never did much while raising my family. Several years ago I took pen & ink classes at Riverbend but had to stop because I had carpal tunnel. Then one day at Art-in-the-Park I was admiring an artist's beautiful work, but didn't recognize the medium. He said it was colored pencil which surprised me. I thought colored pencils were just something kids used in school. I was very excited and signed up for a class with Tom Kinarney at Riverbend. I was hooked and have been in his classes for several years now. The medium suits me. I like the realism and detail, it's inexpensive and there is no mess. I can just curl up on the sofa in front of the TV and draw. The worst that can happen is that I lose pencils in the sofa cushions!
